Giving children the building blocks necessary to develop physically, spiritually and intellectually is the foundation of the YMCA of Pawtucket’s affordable child care programs. Our programs are staffed by people that understand children and the need they have to feel connected and supported when learning and taking on new endeavors. By participating in YMCA child care programs, babies establish trust and security; preschoolers cultivate literacy skills; and school-age children make friends while immersed in educational and athletic activities that increase their confidence to be productive and successful.

The YMCA of Pawtucket’s child care programs are for children between the ages of six weeks and 13 years old. We offer before and afterschool care at a variety of schools in multiple different districts. Please contact your branch for site times. They are located throughout Rhode Island and licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health Services. Child care is offered year-round and attendees have access to an array of YMCA programs such as swimming and youth sports.

The YMCA programs feature:

    • Safe and accessible, age appropriate environments that promote active learning.
  • Professional level directors, child care counselors, teacher assistants and classroom aides who complete at least 20 hours of training each year.
  • School vacation week camps that include swimming, field trips and entertainment.

Fees are affordable and financial assistance includes:

  • Sibling discounts
  • Discounted rates with a Family or Youth YMCA membership
  • YMCA financial aid
  • State Department of Human Services’ subsidies
