LINCOLN, R.I. (December 9, 2019) — The MacColl YMCA renewed its commitment to youth development with the hiring of Jordan Marie St. Clair as its Senior Program Director of Child Care. As the program director, St. Clair will directly manage school-age childcare programs and work to implement new high quality programs that reflect the Y’s value of continued learning.

“Jordan Marie’s experience in early childhood education and enthusiasm to help children succeed will be invaluable at the MacColl YMCA,” said Charlie Clifford, Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of Pawtucket. “Her experience as a teacher and education specialist will support our mission to make active learning available to kids of all backgrounds.”

Active learning at the YMCA, Clifford says, can help prevent learning loss that deters kids from reaching their full potential. “With the winter break coming up, youth must be constantly engaged in mental and physical activities to help promote academic achievement when they return to school in January,” Clifford said.

St. Clair will work closely with MacColl YMCA staff to ensure that programs meet strategic and operating plans. Furthermore, she will also oversee recruiting and hiring efforts related to her role, manage childcare program budgets, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed in her capacity.

“Working in childcare education has always been a passion of mine, and now I have the opportunity to make a bigger impact within the community,” said St. Clair. “I look forward to working with the families and kids of Lincoln to improve their health, learning, and social well-being.”

St. Clair will be joined by Paige Snyder, who was recently hired as the Assistant Childcare Director. Snyder, who earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island, will provide administrative support for the childcare programs at the MacColl YMCA and perform other administrative duties under the direction of St. Clair.

A lifelong advocate for youth development, St. Clair earned an associate’s degree in early childhood education and a bachelor’s degree in community engagement and education from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She is currently pursuing a graduate certificate from Harvard University.

On her days off, St. Clair, a resident of Somerset, Mass., enjoys reading, painting, hiking, and spending time with her partner.
