We are hiring for:

Lead Preschool Teacher

The Heritage Park Early Learning Center, a part of the YMCA of Pawtucket is now hiring a Lead Preschool Teacher.  Under the guidance of the Early Childhood Director and or Ed Coordinator the Lead Teacher shall have the responsibilities for the overall operation of the assigned classroom. The Lead Teacher insures that the classroom maintains the standards of instruction that follow the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS)The Lead Preschool Teacher.  

The Lead PS Teacher shall have a CDA or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field from an accredited college or hold a minimum of 12 college credits in early childhood education. Three months experience working in a classroom environment.   Must be at least 21 years of age — Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire — Obtain or begin the requirements to obtain the RIELDS certificate within 3 months of hire — Meet all DCYF and YMCA Employment qualifications.

Teacher Assistants (Infants through age 5 and Preschool)

TA shall have the responsibility to assist the Teacher Assistant in the operation of the assigned classroom. The TA supervises groups of children and follows specified classroom plans and activities that are developmentally appropriate. The TA shares in the vision of the center and supports the mission of the YMCA of the USA. Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent and be 18 years or older. Up to 20 hours per week. 10.10/hour

School Age Childcare Counselors (K-1 through 8th grade before and after school care)

The Afterschool/Before school childcare counselor is responsible for the daily supervision of after-school program participants’ grades K-8. S/he is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of program components and program activities in the after-school program. The hours are flexible from 7am-9am, 2pm-6pm and 3pm-6pm. Great job for college students!! Flexible schedules! $10.10/hour. Must be 18 years or older.

Site Coordinators (Lincoln, Pawtucket, Central Falls, Cumberland, Coventry (Washington Oaks))

The School Aged Child Care Site Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the school age child care site and will plan, lead, and evaluate group experiences. This position operates at a specific school age site. We are looking for someone to provide high quality recreational experiences for children that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. $12-$15 per hour, based on experience. Full time and part time hours available 20-25 hours per week. Minimum age of 21.

Has at least an Associate’s Degree or sixty college credit hours, with 18 of them in a field relating to education child development, human services, or recreation from an approved and accredited institution or higher education.  Has at least 1 year of supervised experience working with children

Bus Monitor – MacColl YMCA – Lincoln, RI

The MacColl YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Pawtucket, is now hiring a bus monitor.

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibilities.  The hours for this position are mornings 7:00 a.m.- 9:30 a.m, afternoons 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  This is a great opportunity for parents with school age children!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists the bus driver with the safety, movement, management and care of the children boarding the school bus, leaving the bus or being transported
  • Seats self in an area on the bus to ensure observation of all passengers at all times and make sure they are following school bus safety rules
  • Assists the school bus driver in reporting infractions of school bus safety
  • Is aware of problems between students and keeping those students separated by assigning seats
  • Is responsible for securing students who ride in child restraint seats, etc.
  • Attends school bus safety meetings
  • Assists bus driver with pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Maintains a high standard of student conduct at all times
  • Assists driver in keeping the bus clean and inspect for damages and repairs on a daily basis
  • Ensures that a child takes his/her belongings with him/her when departing the bus
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum 18 year of age
  • High School diploma
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (within 6 months of hire)
  • Completion of all DCYF paperwork

Wellness Associate (Fitness Center) – Woonsocket YMCA – Woonsocket, RI

The Woonsocket YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Pawtucket, is hiring a part time Wellness Associate. This position is part time 15-20 hours per week.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Interacts with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and well-being goals. Creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coaches members in support of their desired behavior change. Regularly checks on members’ progress in meeting personal and program goals.
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. Introduces new members to group exercise communities based their health and well-being goals.
  • Utilizes tools and information for the purpose of increasing member knowledge of wellness as well as wellness programs provided through the YMCA (handouts, schedules, etc.).
  • May conduct post-enrollment interviews to understand new members’ definition of well-being, personal goals, cultural background, healthcare needs, diverse abilities and interests and develops plans to meet their individual needs.
  • Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Attends all staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Lifeguards – Family YMCA – Pawtucket, RI

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.

  • Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
  • Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  • Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action.
  • Attends all staff meetings and training as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification.
  • Current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding and obtain YMCA Lifeguarding Certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Oxygen Administration certification (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
  • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to pass lifeguard water test.
  • Must be able to remain alert.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.
  • Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in
  • normal and loud situations.

Bus Driver – YMCA of Pawtucket– Pawtucket, RI

The YMCA of Pawtucket is seeking a part time bus driver for 20-25 hours per week during the school year with the possibility of a greater number of hours during the summer. Must have a valid Rhode Island CDL driver’s license and a valid School bus white card. Provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. May also provide support in other areas as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
  • Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.
  • Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
  • Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.
  • Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
  • Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary: $18.00 /hour

  • High school or equivalent

Required license or certification:

  • CDL and Valid School Bus White Card
