Pawtucket Family YMCA Names Shelly Millett As its Health and Wellness Director

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (August 8, 2019) – Shelly Millett has been named the Health and Wellness Director at the Family Pawtucket YMCA, where she will be responsible for the development and success of healthy living programs. Her experience in developing effective programming will help support the Y’s overarching mission to build healthier communities.

“Shelly has helped countless individuals lead healthier, more active lives through her various roles at the YMCA,” said Charlie Clifford, Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of Pawtucket. “Her passion for improving health outcomes is reflected in her recent achievements, and we are confident that her skills will transfer well to her new role.”

As the Director of Health and Wellness, Millett will be responsible for developing, managing, and improving group exercise classes, personal training, clinical fitness and other health and wellness offerings. She will also recruit, train, and supervise personnel as well as foster program participation.

“During my tenure at the YMCA, I’ve learned how to keep kids, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses physically engaged. In this new role, I hope to bring that success to the wider Pawtucket community,” said Millett.

Millett’s contributions to improving the community’s health have not gone unnoticed. At this year’s YMCA Staff Recognition Night, Millett earned the Healthy Living Champion Award for her leadership in launching programs specifically aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals with chronic illnesses.

She has previously served as a Child Watch Supervisor, an Active Older Adult (AOA) Program Instructor, and an AOA Program Coordinator. Millett is also certified to lead group exercise, SilverSneakers, LiveStrong, and Aqua Fit programs. She has also completed the necessary requisites from the R.I. Department of Health to facilitate Self-Management Workshops.

Millett is an active participant and supporter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. When she is not working or supporting local causes, Millett enjoys going to concerts and movies with her family.
