Do you want to have a direct impact empowering our community members most in need of support? The YMCA of Pawtucket is launching a new mobile health facility delivering critical services to the area’s unhoused populations, with a cutting-edge trailer that includes showers, restrooms, and space to distribute hygiene products, clothing, food, and more.
When
We are looking to recruit a small, tight-knight cadre of volunteers who can commit to at least one shift a month. We will be operating on Thursday mornings and possibly early afternoon, with more days added later.
What
You will help by greeting and checking in our clients; providing them with any necessary products like towels, shower products, food, and clothing; and ensuring our services run smoothly. Volunteers can be seated indoors for part of the shift, but will need to be able to get up and down and be outside at times.
Where
Volunteers will work at our mobile facility which is scheduled to be parked at 68 Broadway in Pawtucket. There may be additional volunteer opportunities (like helping with laundry, food prep, etc.) at our Pawtucket Family YMCA branch nearby at 20 Summer Street. Ample parking is available at both locations.
How
Once we’ve connected to answer your questions, we will schedule for you to visit the mobile health facility to see in person what it is like. If you commit to volunteering, there will be a comprehensive onboarding process to prepare you for the best possible experience. All YMCA volunteers must complete certain background checks and training requirements, but we will guide you through every step.
