The YMCA of Pawtucket is known for running day camps that that are safe and engage children in activities that keep their minds and bodies active during the summer. As with other YMCA offerings, the camps are aimed at assisting participants with developing character based on the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Traditional activities such as swim lessons, recreational swim, sports and arts & crafts remain popular among camp goers. The YMCA of Pawtucket operates camps at facilities located in Lincoln, Cumberland, Coventry and Pawtucket, where there are pools, a spray park, play centers, playgrounds, fields, woods, a lake and updated equipment.
Some of our sites are accredited by the American Camp Association, and all locations are staffed with personnel certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid. The staff members, some of whom are studying to become educators, are required to complete 16-hours of safety training before the start of camp. All the children that attend camps participate in swimming, arts and crafts and several outdoor activities, and there are specialty camps that focus on skills such as dancing and cheerleading. The costs of the camps vary, and families can apply for financial assistance.
More information is available in the YMCA camp brochures, which can be accessed through the links here. Please note that Woonsocket YMCA members and people within its service area can attend camps offered at the MacColl YMCA in Lincoln.
